A few months ago I shared a ‘Sex Series’ on YouTube. I covered the following topics:

I want to share the series with you, as I believe it’s so crucial to have a Christian approach to sex, and not a cultural approach. So let’s break down my sex series!

1. Why should Christians wait until marriage?

• Because the Bible tells us to wait (1 Thessalonians 4:3 and 1 Corinthians 7:2)
• To avoid soul ties with someone we won’t marry – sex binds you as one flesh, it ties you together
• To flee from sexual temptation – we often awaken sexual temptation before marriage, so therefore we give into the temptation, instead we should be fleeing from the sexual temptation (8 practical tips to avoid sexual temptation hopefully will help you in this area)
• To honour our future spouse
• Because sex was designed for marriage – so therefore it will be most enjoyed within a marriage

2. 8 practical tips to avoid sexual temptation

1. Avoid graphic images – be careful what TV shows and films you’re watching
2. Choose your friends wisely – have friends who encourage you, not who tempt you
3. Have an accountability partner – you can see each others search history
4. Set clear boundaries before dating – before temptation truly arises
5. Pray and ask God for guidance – ask for God to heal your sexual sin
6. Speak to your pastor (if appropriate) – seek useful resources
7. Be aware what music you listen to – what we consume massively impacts our thoughts and behaviour
8. Find unique solutions that work for you – everyone is individual, so keep seeking new ways that work for you

3. My story of temptation

There church needs to get better at acknowledging that women also struggle with sexual temptation. Many women I know (myself included) are letting friends and men they date dictate their view on sex before marriage. In this video I share a very open and honest story of how I battled sexual temptation, and it truly shows how easily we can be tempted.

I hope this blog and the videos have helped you in your journey to avoid sexual temptation. Please remember these struggles will impact single people, but also married people. It’s one of the biggest ways the enemy is attacking our body’s, mind and spirit. We need to set boundaries to avoid giving into the sexual temptation that is sadly so prevalent in our culture today.
